Privacy Policy

The short version
We don't sell your data. We don't build advertising profiles. We don't share your reading activity with advertisers or news sources. Your news diet is yours alone.
1. What We Collect
Account information: Email address and name (provided during signup).
Reading activity: Which articles you click on and which stories you view. This powers features like My News Bias and Blindspot.
Source follows and saves: Which sources you follow and which stories you bookmark.
Bias overrides: Any custom bias ratings you set on sources.
Device information: Browser type and basic device data for analytics and debugging.
Contact form submissions: Name, email, and message content when you contact us.
2. How We Use It
- Reading activity powers your My News Bias dashboard and Blindspot feed. It helps us show you stories your preferred sources are missing.
- Account info is used for authentication and to communicate with you about your account.
- Analytics are used in aggregate to improve the product. We look at feature usage patterns, not individual user behavior.
3. What We Don't Do
- ×Sell personal data to third parties
- ×Build advertising profiles based on your reading
- ×Share reading activity with advertisers
- ×Share data with news sources about who reads them
- ×Use third-party ad trackers or tracking pixels
- ×Serve targeted advertising of any kind
4. Data Storage
Your data is stored in Convex, a cloud database platform. All data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. Our application is hosted on Vercel.
5. Data Retention
Account data: Retained until you delete your account.
Reading activity: Retained as long as your account is active, to power My News Bias historical features.
Contact submissions: Retained for support and record-keeping purposes.
6. Account Deletion
You can delete your account at any time from the Settings page. Upon deletion:
- All personal data (email, name, reading history, follows, saves, overrides) will be removed within 30 days.
- Anonymized aggregate data (e.g., total user counts, feature usage statistics) may be retained.
- Contact form submissions may be retained separately for support records.
7. Cookies
We use cookies strictly for:
- Authentication: Session cookies to keep you logged in.
We do not use third-party tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or analytics cookies from external services.
8. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services:
- Convex — database and backend infrastructure
- Vercel — web hosting
- AI Processing Partners — We use AI for source ratings and story summaries. Source metadata and article titles are processed by our AI pipeline. We do not send user data to these services.
- News APIs (NewsData.io, TheNewsAPI, World News API) — content ingestion. No user data is shared with these services.
9. Children's Privacy
TrueFrame is not intended for users under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn we have collected such information, we will delete it promptly.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email or a notice on the platform at least 14 days before taking effect.
